Mr Pepper & His Huge Carrot

Mr Pepper (pictured right) of Kingsteignton grew this abnormally large carrot himself using drainpipes and a mix of sand & compost purchased from Jeffery’s.

Believe it or not but this isnt the biggest carrot he has grown, unfortunatly tho they were lost to carrot fly which has been a big problem for growers this year according to Mr Pepper. although his onions have been a great success!

Mr Pepper is 88 years old (his wife says 89) and has been growing veg for over 30 years! He hopes to grow even bigger veg next year & Jeffery’s have offered to donate seeds to help him on his way.

Steven Banner (pictured left) took the carrot home and is looking forward to cooking it for his family.Mr Pepper and his huge carrot!
